Look and Feel Years Younger with FDA-Approved, Non-Invasive Cosmetic Procedures
Recent breakthroughs in laser technology can erase years off your age without costly and invasive surgical procedures and with no downtime. According to the International Spa Association, non-invasive cosmetic procedures have tripled in the last five years. This is due, primarily, to the successful introduction of laser technology for skin care, which is safe, effective, non-invasive, and causes nearly no downtime. Some of these non-invasive cosmetic procedures can be combined for better results in a physician’s office.
Photorejuvenation process using IPL represents a breakthrough in age-defying skin care. Photorejuvenation IPL skin treatments are safe, effective, and a popular way to improve the signs of aging on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. This is an office procedure performed by a physician or trained medical staff member and typically requires four to six sessions of about 20 minutes each, performed at three to four week intervals. This gold-standard technology can provide dramatic results for a variety of benign conditions, including age spots, sun-induced circles, symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, acne scarring, and other blemishes. Photorejuvenation skin treatment can be used in conjunction with Botox®, Restylane®, and microdermabrasion. Photorejuvenation is slowly and gradually reducing the number of facelifts that are performed because most facelifts and other surgical procedures are too invasive for younger patients and baby boomers, who simply want to revitalize their appearance without recovery downtime. Photorejuvenation can be used in conjunction with some medications to treat long-lasting acne in teenagers and adults.
Laser hair removal is another non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is safe and effective for the removal of unwanted hair. This is great news for men and women who want to remove excess hair. Laser hair removal usually requires four to five treatments to completely remove unwanted hair on different parts of the body. Hair in the active growth phase is most affected by the laser. Since all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, four to five treatments are needed to remove unwanted hair. Although laser treatment can cause some discomfort, most patients tolerate the procedure well. However, as some parts of the body are more sensitive than others, a topical anesthesia is an option. Side effects, if any, are minor.
As mentioned, some of these laser technologies can be combined with other procedures, such as fillers like Restylane® and Botox®. Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic derma filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane® is the first cosmetic derma filler made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. Restylane® is free from animal protein. This quality limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. Restylane® has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. FDA has approved Restylane® for wrinkles and folds, such as those from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
Botox® is another cosmetic procedure that has been widely used in the past three to four years for the reduction of wrinkles and a youthful appearance. The beauty of the Botox® cosmetic treatment is that it is a simple ten-minute, non-surgical process. A few tiny injections, and within days, there can be noticeable improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to four months. Results may vary, and there is no recovery time. You can even have it done on your lunch break.
