A proper skin care routine is important for many reasons – it helps prevent signs of aging from developing prematurely and it helps minimize any existing signs of aging. Aging appears different for everyone, and often affects people at different times in their life. A good skin care routine include face cleansing with gentle facial cleanser which in turn makes fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. If you are young, it’s often hard to remember the value of a good skin care routine, but as you get older, you will notice many signs of aging, such as:

 

Fine lines and wrinkles developing around the face, eyes and forehead
Skin pigmentation or age spots
Redness
Dryness
Loss of elasticity or “bounce”

 

There are a few aspects of skin care that you should incorporate into your daily skin care routine. The first is to wash the skin with an appropriate gentle facial cleanser – a creamy or milky gentle facial cleanser works best for dry skin because it won’t dry it out. Next, exfoliation a few times a week removes the buildup of dry skin cells to reveal fresh, more youthful skin. Avoid exfoliating every day – too much can actually cause the skin to dry out further or become irritated. After exfoliation, it is important to protect the newly exposed, clean skin. Moisturizing eye cream is effective at hydrating the delicate skin around the eyes and reducing the appearance of fine lines around the corners of the eyes, known as crow’s feet.

 

After applying an eye cream, a moisturizing face cream locks in moisture and provides hydration throughout the day. Apply a rich, nourishing cream before bed and a lightweight product in the morning under makeup. Always look for a moisturizer with an SPF to provide additional protection from harmful UV rays, which increase the rate of aging.
