Look 10 Years Younger With Non-Invasive, Quick Cosmetic Procedures

With so many therapies and treatments to fight the signs of aging, remove unwanted hair, and rejuvenate the skin, it’s no surprise that medical spas offering these treatments, staffed by trained medical professionals, are growing in numbers. This unprecedented growth is fueled by recent breakthroughs in non-invasive therapies that require no downtime, making them attractive to people who want to rejuvenate their appearances without going under the knife. According to the International Spa Association, non-invasive cosmetic procedures have tripled in the last five years. A large part of this increase can be attributed to the development of medical-grade laser technology to treat a variety of skin conditions.

Photorejuvenation is a popular, office-based procedure using pulsed laser light to diminish the signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, chest, arms, or hands. Photorejuvenation IPL skin treatments are safe and effective, and are preformed by a physician or trained medical staff member. Photorejuvenation usually requires four to six sessions, each approximately 20 minutes, performed at three to four week intervals.  Photorejuvenation is the gold-standard for treating benign conditions, including age spots, hyperpigmentation, sun-induced circles, symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, acne scarring, and other blemishes. Photorejuvenation can also be used in conjunction with Botox®, Restylane®, and microdermabrasion, which are also growing in popularity as facial skin treatments. Photorejuvenation is actually causing a decline in the number of facelifts, which are very invasive surgical procedures requiring anesthesia and long recovery times. For revitalizing aging skin without downtime, Photorejuventation is rapidly becoming the procedure of choice.

Laser hair removal is another non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is safe and effective for the removal of unwanted hair for both men and women. This procedure is usually performed about four to five times with some downtime in between because it is only effective on follicles that are actively producing hair, and not all hair follicles are in this stage at the same time. Laser hair removal is an excellent way to get rid of larger patches of unwanted hair, especially for men who want hair removed on the back, chest, or legs. Laser hair removal is non-invasive and has very few side effects. Some patients may feel a slight burning sensation with laser hair removal. For these patients, a topical anesthesia is an option. Laser hair removal can be safely used with Restylane® and Botox® treatments.

Restylane® is a natural cosmetic filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin and diminishes the signs of aging, including deeper wrinkles, such as those that form around the nose and mouth.  Restylane® is the first cosmetic filler made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid, a natural substance present in the skin that helps give fullness and volume. Because the hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is non-animal based, it limits the risk of allergic reaction or transmission of animal disease. Restylane® has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments in over 60 countries. Restylane® is also an FDA-approved treatment for wrinkles and skin folds.

Botox® is perhaps the most widely recognized cosmetic treatment to reduce wrinkles and give a more youthful appearance. Botox® administration is a fast (10 minute) non-surgical procedure and requires no downtime. Botox® is given as tiny injections in the areas to be treated, including moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. The effects of Botox® are usually felt within a few days, and last from three to four months. The procedure is so quick, that may patients opt to receive Botox® treatment during their lunch breaks.
